How to Install a Chatbot on WordPress, Shopify, and Any Website

Installing an AI chatbot sounds technical, but with BotPortal it is incredibly simple. You just need to copy one line of code and paste it into your website.

Step 1: Get Your Embed Code

Log in to your BotPortal dashboard. Go to the Embed section. Copy the script tag shown there. It looks like this:

Step 2: Install on Your Platform

WordPress Installation

Go to Appearance → Theme File Editor. Open footer.php. Paste the code just before the closing `</body>` tag. Click Save. Your bot is live.

Shopify Installation

Open Online Store → Themes → Edit Code. Find theme.liquid. Paste the code before `</body>`. Save. Your chatbot will appear on every page.

Wix Installation

Go to Settings → Custom Code → Add Custom Code. Paste the script and select All Pages. Save and you are done.

Custom HTML Website

Open your HTML file. Find the closing `</body>` tag. Paste the code right before it. Upload the file to your server.

Step 3: Customize Your Bot

Once installed, go back to your dashboard to customize:

• Change the bot name and welcome message
• Pick a theme color that matches your brand
• Train the bot with your business information
• Set allowed domains for security

The whole process takes less than 5 minutes. Once installed, the chatbot greets every visitor, answers their questions, and captures their contact details automatically.
